Done with Bullying

Even though October is designated National Bullying Awareness Month, it seems that every month there are bullying situations. Here is how we prepare our students for bullies…

#1 use your mind (make smart decisions)

Safe habits

Seat belt, look both ways before crossing, avoid bullies, never dive into water until you know how deep it is, think of ways to make friends with bullies

polite greetings

#2 use your words, CALM Cool down, assert yourself, look the bully in the eye mean it!  “Leave me alone!!!!!!”

Take 3 deep breathes

Why would you say that

Are you trying to hurt my feelings

I want you to leave me alone

I want you to stop picking on me NOW

Did you really just say that?

I consider you a friend and would never say that to you

That didn’t make a bit any sense

#3 use your legs

If you can’t talk yourself out walk away.  Pretend the bully is invisible

When is the good time to run (ASAP).

#4 ask for help

Difference between being a tattle tale or reporting

expressing feelings

Your safety is more important than their feelings

#5 defend yourself

Last on your list if nothing else works

Warrior stance

Tiger eyes

Lions roar

Power palms

Report immediately
